The production process of connectors is very complex. Complexity arises from the structure of connectors. So what is the basic structure of the connector? Generally speaking, the basic structure of a connector cannot be separated from four aspects: contact, insulator, housing, and accessories. The following will explain each aspect one by one.
1、 Contact parts
As the core part of completing the electrical connection function, it mainly consists of a contact pair consisting of an anode contact and a cathode contact, and the electrical connection is completed through the insertion of the female and male contacts.
Anode contacts are rigid components with shapes such as cylindrical (round pins), square cylindrical (square pins), or flat (blades). Anode contacts are generally made of brass or phosphor bronze. The cathode contact is the socket, which is a key part of the contact pair. Relying on the elastic structure, elastic deformation occurs when the pin is inserted, generating elasticity and forming close contact with the positive contact point to complete the connection. The jack structure includes cylindrical (split, retracted), tuning fork type, cantilever beam type (longitudinal groove), folding type (longitudinal groove, "9" shape), box type (square jack), and double-sided steel wire spring type Jinding, etc.
2、Insulators
Often referred to as a base or mounting plate, its main function is to arrange the contacts according to the required position and spacing, and ensure the insulation performance between the contacts and between the contacts and the shell. Good insulation resistance, withstand voltage performance, and ease of processing are the basic requirements for selecting insulation materials to be processed into insulators.
3、 Shell
Usually referred to as the casing (depending on the variety), it is a part of the connector cover that provides mechanical protection for the built-in insulation mounting plate and pins, and provides alignment when the plug and socket fit, and then pins the connector onto the device.
4、 Accessories
Accessories are divided into structural accessories and installation accessories. Structural accessories such as circlips, positioning keys, positioning pins, guide pins, connecting rings, cable clamps, sealing rings, and gaskets. Install accessories such as screws, nuts, screws, and spring coils. Most accessories come in standard and universal versions.
In summary, the basic structure of the connector should be introduced. The four parts of the contact, insulator, housing, and accessories must not be bypassed, as they are the most basic parts of the connector structure.
