2.4. The electrical circuit should be as short as possible
Electrical harness loops must be kept as short as possible. After considering the disassembly and assembly process, it is necessary to consider how to shorten the wire loop as much as possible, because a shorter loop has the following advantages:
①The consumption voltage of the line section is low, and the voltage can be matched to the electrical device, and their corresponding signal strength is relatively high;
② Reduce the weight of the vehicle;
③Reduce wiring harness cost.
In some cases, in order to achieve assembly processability, the wire harness that could originally be one segment may be divided into two segments during the three-dimensional design of the automotive electrical wiring harness. This will inevitably increase the wiring harness connectors. When performing segmented design, the connectors must be targeted. When adding items, the following issues must be considered.
1). The total voltage drop on the wiring harness increases and the signal strength on the electrical devices attenuates.
2) The increase in plug connectors will inevitably lead to an increase in unreliable connection points for electrical connections.
3) In order to fix the additional connectors, it is necessary to add brackets or consider other fixing methods.
4) Increase the wiring harness assembly time and material costs.
In view of the above points, if conditions permit, reduce wire harness segmentation as much as possible and adopt a through-type wire harness design.
