2.2. Good maintainability

When arranging the electrical wiring harness of the whole vehicle, attention should be paid to the after-sales maintenance link. Good maintainability is reflected in the fact that when an electrical system fault occurs, the fault can be eliminated in the shortest possible time, and the maintenance operation can avoid damage to other components during troubleshooting. If there is a problem with the wiring harness or electrical parts, the disassembly should be simple, and at the same time, other irrelevant parts will not be affected during the disassembly, otherwise it will cause some unnecessary waste and increase the maintenance time. Therefore, in order to ensure good maintainability of the electrical system of the vehicle, the following aspects should be considered when arranging the electrical wiring harness.

1) The wiring harness connectors should be placed as close as possible.

2) If the wiring harness connector can only be plugged in and out with one hand, its opposite plug-in end must be fixed reliably.

3) The connectors in the same part should be distinguished by color, size, internal positioning and other methods to prevent wrong insertion.

4) A certain length should be reserved for the wire harness at the end of the connector to facilitate the insertion and removal of the connector: it is recommended to reserve 80-100 mm for the wire harness at the switch end, for the maintenance of combination instrument, audio, air conditioning panel, fuse box, etc. For electrical components with relatively high efficiency, the rear-end wiring harness is reserved to a length that is easy to plug and unplug according to the assembly installation position. Figure 3 shows the functional switch wiring harness of an off-road vehicle dashboard. 2.3. The wiring harness has good reliability

How the wire harness works reliably is also an issue that needs to be considered when arranging automotive electrical wire harnesses. This is mainly done by adding wire harness covers to protect the wire harness body, reliably protecting the wire harness where it passes through the metal holes, adding wire harness fixing brackets, and adding wire harness fixing brackets when conditions permit.
