1. Plate
The pole plate is composed of grid frame and active material, which is the core component of the battery. The function of the plate is that during the charging and discharging process of the battery, the active material on it reacts chemically with the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte, so as to realize the mutual conversion of electrical energy and chemical energy.
The grid frame is cast from lead-antimony alloy or lead-calcium-tin alloy and made into a radial shape, as shown in Figure 1-3. The dry-charged storage battery adopts lead-antimony alloy grid frame, and the mass fraction of antimony is 1.5% to 2.3%. The purpose of adding metal antimony to the grid is to increase the mechanical strength and improve the casting performance. The maintenance-free battery is made of lead-calcium-tin alloy grid with low water consumption and good electrical conductivity, and is made by hot die rolling process.
Structure of the battery grid
The active material refers to the working material that participates in the chemical reaction on the plate, which is mainly composed of lead powder mixed with a certain density of dilute sulfuric acid. Lead powder is the main raw material of living matter, which is made by putting lead lumps into a ball mill and grinding them.
