Sensor

A sensor is a device that converts various non-electric quantities (physical quantities, chemical quantities, biomass, etc.) into another physical quantity (generally electric quantity) that is convenient for transmission and processing according to certain rules. Sensors are equivalent to the human eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and other five sense organs. In the automotive electronic control system, the function of the sensor is to convert the state parameters (various non-electrical signals) of the various components of the automobile into electric quantity signals and send them to various electronic control units. Different car models and grades are equipped with different sensors. Some cars only have a few sensors (such as only 6-8 cars equipped with engine electronic control systems), and some cars are equipped with more than 50 sensors. Generally speaking, the more sensors a car is equipped with, the higher its grade.

According to different detection items, the sensors used in automotive electronic control systems can be divided into the following types.

1) Flow sensor. For example, vane type, measuring core type, vortex type, hot wire type and hot film air flow sensor used in engine fuel injection system.

2) Position sensor. For example, the crankshaft position sensor (also known as the engine speed and crank angle sensor), the camshaft position sensor, and the throttle position sensor used in the engine fuel injection and microcomputer-controlled ignition systems; Height) sensors; various liquid level position (or height) sensors used in information display systems and liquid level monitoring systems; accelerator pedal position sensors used in cruise control systems; steering wheel angle sensors used in electronically controlled power steering systems, etc.

3) Pressure sensor. For example, the intake manifold pressure sensor, atmospheric pressure sensor, exhaust pressure sensor, and cylinder pressure sensor used in the engine control system; the fuel pressure sensor used in the automatic transmission system; the piezoelectric deflagration sensor used in the engine deflagration control system, etc.

4) Temperature sensor. Such as engine coolant temperature sensor, intake air temperature sensor, exhaust temperature sensor, fuel temperature sensor; automatic transmission fluid temperature sensor used in automatic transmission system; vehicle interior temperature sensor used in air conditioning control system, etc.

5) Concentration sensor. For example, the oxygen sensor used in the engine control system; the ethanol concentration sensor used in the safety control system, etc.

6) Speed sensor. Such as the wheel speed sensor used by the anti-lock braking system, the longitudinal and lateral acceleration (deceleration) speed sensor of the body; the speed sensor used by the engine control system; the vehicle speed sensor used by the engine, automatic transmission and cruise control system; the transmission input shaft speed sensor And the output shaft speed sensor, etc. 

7) Collision sensor. Such as the rolling ball type, roller type, eccentric hammer type, piezoelectric type and mercury type collision sensor used in the auxiliary protection system.
