1. The self-diagnosis principle that the monitoring point is located at the positive pole of the monitored component
In the automotive electronic control system, the fault self-diagnosis monitoring points of various sensors are generally located at the positive pole of the sensor.
2. Self-diagnosis of grounding and short circuit to negative pole
When the monitoring point is located at the positive pole of the monitored component, the self-diagnosis circuit of the sensor grounding or short-circuiting to the negative pole is shown in Figure 9-4. When the sensor and the control system are normal, the self-diagnosis circuit measures the signal voltage of the sensor input to the central processing unit CPU from the self-diagnosis monitoring point as 0.3-4.7V, indicating that the sensor is working normally, and the self-diagnosis result is no fault record.
If the signal line between the sensor and the electronic control unit ECU, the connector plug or the sensor part itself is "grounded", as shown in Figure 9-4a, the monitoring value input to the CPU at the self-diagnosis monitoring point will always be 0V.
If the sensor signal line is short-circuited with the negative wire, that is, "short-circuited to the negative pole", as shown in Figure 9-4b, the monitoring value input to the CPU at the self-diagnosis monitoring point will always be 0V.
To sum up, when the monitoring point is located at the positive pole of the monitored component, when the signal line of the control component, the connector plug or the component itself is "grounded" or "shorted to the negative pole", the monitoring value of the CPU is 0V. . Because it is difficult for the CPU to distinguish its fault type, the fault recorded by the CPU is: "ground or short circuit to ground".
