In each cell, there is always one more negative plate than positive plate. This is because the chemical reaction on the positive plate is more intense than that on the negative plate, so sandwiching the positive plate between the negative plates can make the discharge even on both sides and prevent the active material volume from changing inconsistently and causing the plates to bow.
A voltage of about 2V can be obtained by immersing a positive plate and a negative plate in the electrolyte.
The car battery consists of 6 cells connected in series to form a 12V battery for the car. A 12V electric car uses one battery, and a 24V electric car uses two batteries.
