The suspension system matching the vehicle length is mainly reflected in the evolution of the wheelbase, and the expansion of the wheelbase is relatively simple. The wheelbase change is realized by fixing the front axle and moving the rear axle along the X direction. 2. Width direction
The matching of the suspension system to the vehicle width is mainly reflected in the evolution of the wheelbase, and there are two adjustment schemes.
(1) Adjusting the length of the suspension rod system to match the wheelbase evolution plan First, it is necessary to solidify and unify the internal interfaces of the front and rear suspension systems. (2) Adjust the steering knuckle hub bearing mounting surface or the rim offset to realize the wheelbase variation adjustment plan First, adjust the wheelbase in a small range by adjusting the distance between the steering knuckle hub bearing mounting surface and the outer point of each rod system. The structure and size of the steering knuckle need to be adjusted. Compared with the modification of the rim offset mentioned below, the relative position between the center of the wheel and the center of the bearing can be kept unchanged, thereby ensuring the design life of the bearing. Furthermore, when there is little demand for wheelbase changes during vehicle development, the rim offset can be considered to be modified. This method can maximize the sharing of suspension and peripheral components. However, the relative positional relationship between the center of the wheel and the center of the bearing needs to be adjusted. Generally, the offset between the center of the wheel and the center of the bearing should not be too large. Excessive offset of the hub bearing will affect the life of the bearing.
3. Height direction
The suspension system matches the car height evolution. First of all, based on the target of the vehicle's ground clearance, the outer diameter of the tire is increased by adjusting the tire specification, so that the wheel center beat meets the requirements of the vehicle's ground clearance. Then, through the adjustment of the adapter bracket between the front suspension and the installation point of the lower vehicle body, the overall Z-direction translation of the suspension is realized, and the upward expansion is matched with the height of the vehicle. In the end, the height evolution of the whole vehicle from sedan, cross to SUV will be realized.
